Reverse osmosis water: what is the point?

Reverse osmosis water is water that has been purified through a process called “reverse osmosis,” as is possible with our filtration fountain. This technique removes most impurities, minerals, and contaminants present in the water, producing extremely pure water.

It works by forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane that allows only water molecules to pass through. Impurities, mineral salts, and other contaminants are retained, producing clean, demineralized water.

How does water become reverse osmosis water?

To become reverse osmosis water, the water follows a 3-step filtration process; this ensures up to 99% removal of contaminants such as fluoride, lead, chlorine, nitrates, and heavy metals. Please note that more than 1,000 contaminants can be found in the water you drink every day!

• The first filter: it is effective for around 6 to 8 months depending on the quality and volume of water treated. It is a 5-micron textile sediment filter that helps reduce algae, impurities, rust, limescale, and heavy sediments;
• The second filter: this one lasts between 8 and 10 months, again depending on water quality and the volume treated. It is made of coconut-based activated carbon, also with a 5-micron filtration rating. It removes chlorine, organic chemicals, suspended particles, unpleasant tastes and odours, and other chemicals;
• The third filter: this last one has a lifespan of 10 to 12 months and consists of a semi-permeable reverse osmosis membrane that removes up to 99% of contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, pesticides, heavy metals, etc.

As you can see, the filters in our filtration fountain are effective for 6 to 12 months depending on the volume of water treated. Completely independent, they are easy and simple to replace over the months and years!
